There are lots of things you can do to save energy while keeping your home comfortable. Let’s start with these items:
1. Update your lights and select energy efficient bulbs to replace inefficient ones.
2. Use a programmable thermostat that you can access from your smart phone. It is always great to use your thermostat’s programmable features but we all know life tends to change frequently. It doesn’t make sense to heat or cool your home when plans change and no one is home. Make those updates from anywhere.
3. Install Smart Plugs that work with Alexa, Google Assistant & Apple Home kit and have WiFi Energy Monitoring with Scheduling functions that let you control your interior and exterior lights. This is especially helpful late at night when you realize you forgot to turn off your outside lights. Turn them off from the comfort of your bed or couch.
4. Make sure you have the proper level of insulation in your home.
5. When buying a new appliance for your home, make sure that you pick the best and most efficient products for your home.
6. And of course, my favorite would be to pick a more renewable energy source for your home.
It is not necessary to make each one of these changes immediately but work them into your lifestyle in stages. You can begin saving energy and time today.
